Lessons
from the fig tree; more teachings in the Olivet Discourse

Sing "Jehovah, Lord of Heaven and
Earth"
A couple of the events today took place on the Mount of Olives. One of my favorite places on the Mount of Olives was the Orson Hyde Memorial Gardens. Here are a couple of videos featuring two of my professors from Jerusalem that give a little bit of the history of this garden, and some beautiful footage of the Gardens and the view it has of Jerusalem. Christ and his disciples probably had a similar view of the city as he lamented its coming destruction.

Pater Noster
This church is associated with the site where Christ instructed his Apostles during his last week and his later ascension to heaven. It later became associated with the site of the Lord's prayer.
This church has beautiful mosaics of the Lord's Prayer written in hundreds of languages.
There is a beautiful grove of Olive trees just outside of the church courtyard. This is likely what the landscape would have looked like in Christ's day.
Dominus Flevit
The phrase "dominus flevit" is Latin for "the Lord wept" commemorating the time when Jesus wept over Jerusalem. The church is rounded on the top to symbolize a tear drop. It is just up the mountain from the Garden of Gethsemane.
The view from just outside of the Church.
The window looks right across the valley to the Temple Mount.
